No love for the love, I mean blood, god.

"Everyone thinks I'm angry, I'm just misunderstood."
-Kharn after rolling seven 1s to hit.
No love for the love, I mean blood, god.
Paid a visit to my FLGS (frienly local gaming store) to pick up a few more daemonettes to bulk up my army (I currently only have 20) only to find they had sold out.
In fact due to people going nuts over the daemonology summoning capabilities, people have started buying boxes of daemons which had spent months to years on the shelves.
Daemon models that remained
-Bloodletters (few boxes)
-Bloodcrushers (lots)
-Blood thirster
-Khorne chariot
-Slaanesh chariot
-Tzeentch chariot
-Flamers
-Plague drones.

So yeah lots of Khorne was left, which makes me sad because I personally think Khorne models look amazing, possibly even the best of the game, if only their rules didnt let them down.
I think their main problem, compared to the other gods, is that the dont do anything unique that the other gods dont do better.

Bloodletters are outclassed in combat by daemonettes in almost every single match-up and now are no longer any more resilient in either shooting or combat.
The bloodthirster can not charge after flying, and with a poor shooting attack for a 250 point model, meaning he spends a turn hovering around waiting to be shot to pieces or outmaneuvered or even charged by a wraithknight. The single smash attacks hurts. Compared to a Lord of change, who loses a single attack but can be strength 8 (buy the staff) as well as have easy access to rerolls to hit etc.
To make matters worse for the giant red beastie deepstriking in (such as when summoned) starts you in swooping mode, which means 2 turns before you can charge.
Too many people have commented on the internet over bloodcrushers, any more would be redundant. For those unaware of how the best unit in the codex became one of the worst, read Toughness 4 and Instant death rules. Losing eternal warrior means losing your squad to a few missile launchers/multimeltas.
Im not surprised that the chariots are still there. Though the khorne cannon is nice, S8 AP5 Large Blast which gives people charging them assault grenades, but its a lot of points to do, what I feel, too little of an impact on the game. Yes it could make your bloodletters, if you ran them, strike at equal initiative with marines, or your daemonettes strike first, but chances are you would have been better utilising that heavy support choice for something else.
On another note, chariots still underperform, as their damage output/cost is too low and they lack any real staying power for the points cost either. Imagine being hit by a single missle launcher. Do you allocate to the transport and risk being bogged down (or worse) or risk it on the rider and be instant deathed.

Anyway TL;DR my local games store have sold out of most of the daemon models except Khorne ones.

Now for a list.

Im still looking at daemonettes with a locus herald, but last game 20 was too many. I might try 4x10 man squads instead. Will mean more heralds, but could work. 1500 points on the nose

1 Keeper of Secrets

2x Greater rewards
2 Herald of slaanesh
Exalted Locus
Greater reward
lesser reward
2 Herald of slaanesh
Exalted Locus
Greater reward
4 Daemonettes x 10
Alluress
3 Soul grinder
Baleful torrent
Daemon of Slaanesh

Battleforged -  check
Fluffy - check
Fast - check
AP2 - check
Skyfire - check
Anti Armour 14 - check

The list can deal with anything not being spammed.
I guess you could swap some daemonettes for seekers, but I personally feel that despite the +3 points for 12" move and extra attack, I feel the loss factor you receive as they drop like flies (T3, 5++) the lack of objective secured, and the fact they cost 2x to buy, I would stick with the daemonettes.

Locus of Beguilement = GG

"You like money and sex too, we should hang out"
Locus of Beguilement = GG
Took a Herald of Slaanesh last night with locus of beguilement, and wow did it perform. Now granted my meta is mostly people spamming elite armies (heldrakes, riptides, wraithknights, titans etc) so no one has taken mass templates for a while now. And Daemonettes are just as resilient as terminators against plasma weaponry, which means rapid firing plasma guns barely dent the squad.

Anyway this was the squad I took.

19 Daemonettes
1 Alluress

1 Herald of Slaanesh
1 Greater Reward
1 Locus of Beguilement

The squad costs around 275 points. Which is pricey for tough 22 wounds of 3 models. However the damage output is wicked. Overall the squad killed a squad of Nob bikers, a Biker Boss, Ate the dark eldar Lelith and her Incubi retinue and turned to cut through a vindicator and 10 man black templar squad (it was a 3000 point game and my opponent wanted to field all the things!).
before finally dying to too many poisoned shots, which hilariously wound me just as easily as they would a wraithknight.

In hindsight I could have taken a lesser reward on the herald and taken both an etherblade and a greater etherblade to get the extra attack, which is 5 attacks (6 on the charge) Ws7 S5 I7 Ap2 rending. However the real shine was the Locus which gives you (effectively) Hatred every single turn!. Plus some challenge shenanigans, which I found not that useful in this game, but will be in future games.

Basically I could see myself running 2 of these squads (need another 20 Daemonettes then) or maybe considering seekers, (but I only have 5) But they lose objective secured, which is a great bonus when you charge in, mob around them, steal their objective and potentially kill a bunch of their stuff.

1850 List would be something along the lines of

1 Keeper of Secrets
2 Greater rewards

1 Herald of Slaanesh
1 greater Reward
1 Locus of Beguilement
1 Herald of Slaanesh
1 Greater Reward
1 Locus of Beguilement

19 Daemonettes
1 Alluress

19 Daemonettes
1 Alluress

5 Seekers of Slaanesh

1 Belakor

5 CSM
1 Melta gun
1 Rhino

5 CSM
1 Melta gun
1 rhino

5 CSM
1 flamer
1 rhino

1 Heldrake

2 Nurgle Obliterators

Use the rhinos to block LoS to the daemons on turns 1 / 2. Belakor just skims the ground making stuff invisible and shrouded. If shot at he can jink to get 2+ cover save. You dont care about being forced to snapfire when your in combat anyway.

If any of the marines live and there are no more targets feel free to take objectives with them. There are just enough of them that they will beat MSU of most peoples disposable troop choices (10 man cultists/gaunts/ 5 man scouts etc), they are still space marines afterall.

Heldrake does as heldrake pleases and if your opponent doesnt deal with the daemonettes asap, they will quickly chew through anything that isnt armour 14 (which the herald will slowly grind through so not ideal, but it means you dont get bogged down by armour 13 walkers).

Probably will struggle against enemy fliers.
If you find this is the case you can swap Belakor for a sorcerer and take the 2 Skyfiring quad lascannon batteries, which along with the heldrake (which could have either head in this list) you should have enough to deal with most players who dont play flyer spam.

The need for speed (in 7th edition)

"It has 6 breasts, which is sexy, its like being in bed with 3 women...
or maybe a cow" - Iterator Johnston

The need for speed (in 7th edition)
With the new Maelstrom rules, capturing (and holding) objectives has become much more important than the good old 5th and 6th ed tactics of turn 5 turbo-boosting jetbikes. In the games I have played of 7th I have witnessed games where peoples armies appear to be losing, and in an annihilation game would have already thrown in the towel, only to have a stack of points because their opponents death star couldnt shift all their troops off the objectives for the first 3 turns of the game. I have used plague zombies offensively, by charging a squad clearly stronger than me, knowing my objective secured would allow me to seize the objective for a few turns generating valuable victory points.

Objective secured, along with the concept of using dedicated transports to capture has given me this weeks theme of lists. The core of which is
5 CSM
1 Special weapon
1 Rhino

You can easily get 4 of these squads in under 500 points. That gives you 4 objective secured squads of power armour, with the mobility to take objectives early (you dont have to get out any more either) and the ability to drop your cargo on one objective and drive off towards another.

I can definitely see plague marines performing better, but at double the points costs and the requirement for a nurgle chaos lord, rather than the vanilla sorcerer.

Now with that done you need some killing power, so lets keep up the slaanesh theme and add some daemonettes (under 200 points for 20 of them) and a herald (take the etherblade and maybe a locus) and you have a list around 750 points with 5 fast objective takers with objective secured. Plus the daemonettes could be used to destroy a wraithknight or even a titan (20 daemonettes = 40 attacks or 60 on the charge with the rerolls to hit from the locus) Ok its not the best strategy, but it would work in a pinch.

Then fill your list with whatever you want. Personally I like obliterators and 2 nurgle obliterators will bring your list to around 1000 points. Maybe you would rather take a heldrake. Anyway here are some lists I made based on this build.

List 1 -1000 points List 2 - 1000 points

If you are playing more than 1000 points, give that sorcerer a bike and a squad of spawn. With a force axe you can take down a fair amount in combat and the spawn soak anything thats not strength 10. In fact for less than the cost of terminator armour on a chaos lord, you can make those spawn tough 6. Roll up invis or shrouded and you'll almost guarantee getting into combat. The only problem is you cant mark him anything other than nurgle but you can stay undivided (even in the nurgle spawn squad) Take a second heldrake, buff up the daemons, or take more obliterators are all solid choices as, although slower, the oblits long range makes up for things and they can slag landraiders too.

Welcome to Chaos for the Chaos Gods!
This is the first post of my first blog and I can tell by the look on your face you care so much.
I wouldnt call myself a veteran 40k player, as I have only been playing since the start of 5th edition, but I feel I have a few hundred games under my belt and can hopefully offer some advice and discussion with the other Warhammer 40k enthusiasts following the path of the darker powers.

First things first, I love to write lists. Oh so many lists. Possibly more than I like playing the game, which is a lot. And I always had a spot in my heart for the poor little Chaos Space Marines and their little Daemonic friends. Even through some hard times of severe nerfing and so called "unplayable codex" issues.

As a working class man, I really only have time to play 1 maybe 2 games per week, so most of my lists get thrown away and thus I feel sad knowing they were lost into the aether. Well I decided I would post them on line and maybe, just maybe someone would read them and try them out for me. So if you have any comments, I will try and get to you as soon as I can!
